I’m a city boy. Taking me into the bush is as useful as a pork chop at a Bar Mitzvah. Every time I think I see a buck, it turns out to be a dead tree branch. Süha Derbent, however, can easily distinguish animals from trees, and has visited many countries, taking amazing wildlife photos as he goes.

More of this work after the jump.

Wildlife photography is great. However, pictures 1, 2 and 5 were taken at a game park in Montana at http://www.animalsofmontana.com/ with wildlife models. The tiger’s name is Texaco and the cougar’s name is Charlie. They pose and are rewarded with a nice piece of raw chicken. So yes, the pictures are wonderful, but let’s be honest and call a spade a spade. It isn’t like he was stalking wildlife for those photos. The other ones are taken from a land rover in Africa. African safaris are awesome, but again it isn’t like a photographer sets up a blind in the bush or tracks an animal. This is a little glorified. The tracker has a radio head set and there are 20 land rovers in the area. When a guide finds something he radios all of the other land rovers in the area. The shots are great, but let’s be honest about how we get them.
