Delon, yes from what I’ve read on Wikipedia about Shudo, man love was indeed encouraged in the samurai class. It was consequently adopted by the middle classes, and also became associated with Kabuki actors who worked as prostitutes off-stage.

Strange stuff, but very interesting nonetheless.
