I’m a big fan or Funny or Die as they always seem to have some real funny viral videos. Here’s the latest.

If you’re a child of the 80s, as I am, then you must remember “Captain Planet and the Planeteers”. It was an animated show that attempted to bring climate change and environmental awareness to youngsters. While it did wake kids up to recycling and caring for the planet, it wasn’t very cool and really, you hated the kids and the mullet-wearing Captain.

So when Funny or Die produced Don Cheadle as the new Captain (Cap, we’re assuming was a white guy), we knew it was going to be hilarious. Please be advised the sketch does contain salty language.

Realistic “Futurama” Character Busts

I love Futurama so this comes as good news, everyone. Artist Ray Lin has been hard at work sculpting busts of the cartoon characters as if they existed in real life. Thus far, he has sculpted Turanga Leela, Professor Farnsworth, Nibbler, and the woefully inept Doctor Zoidberg. Have a look at Lin’s creations after the jump.

See a few more photos from Lin’s Futurama Sculptures set.I hope Lim is going to create more of these busts, especially of Zapp Brannigan and Fry. If ever a live action movie were to be made of Futurama, I’d expect Zapp to played by a cocksure Nathan Fillion and the goofy Michael Cera would make a perfect Philip J. Fry. What do you think?

Mac ‘n’ Cheese

Four students at the Utrecht School of Arts in the Netherlands spent a period of five months reportedly eating a bajillion peanut butter sandwiches. They also made an animated short film in that time. Filmed in the cartoon-like art style of Team Fortress 2, the story revolves around string bean who is on the run from a very bad man. The heart-pounding chase is made trippy through the injection of drugs. Check out Mac ‘n’ Cheese below.

Watch This: Adult Swim’s “Black Dynamite” Pilot Episode

OMG. This is hilarious. And rude. And violent. And brilliant. So, altogether nothing unusual when the name Black Dynamite is mentioned.

In this pilot episode for Adult Swim’s animated series, Black Dynamite, the Kung Fu-knowing, fried chicken-eating, lady-loving former CIA agent is trying to extract some information when he is asked to take on a more serious mission. It seems that Black Dynamite’s childhood mentor That Frog Kurtis has turned from inspirational puppet TV educator to a life of crime. Kurtis not only controls the sleaze in Puppet Street but has used the power of television to convince all the kids who watch his show to do his evil bidding. It is now up to up to Black Dynamite and his crew to beat the stuffing out of the evil pimp-ass frog. See how it goes down below [NSFW].

The animated series features the voice talents of Michael Jai White as Black Dynamite, Byron Minns (Bullhorn), Tommy Davidson (Cream Corn), and Kym Whitley (Honeybee). You’ll recognize those names from the 2009 live action film. The series is set to premiere on Adult Swim some time this year.

Under the alias of Yayzus Graphics, Hunter takes the iconic Japanese character Kitty White (born in posh London) and morphs her with characters from popular movies, TV series, and cartoons.

In the Batman TV series from the late 60s, actor Burt Ward (originally Bert Gervis) played one half of the “Dynamic Duo”, more specifically the embarrassing half. During his time as the Boy Wonder, Ward uttered many ridiculous “Holy,____Batman!” phrases. What follows is a cringe-worthy compilation of those nonsensical exclamations.

Goldfish’s “We Come Together” Celebrates Retro Games

Popular South African band Goldfish shows love for all things retro in the music video for the single, We Come Together taken off their album, Get Busy Living.

We Come Together was created by Mike Scott with contributions by some 20+ artists from every continent in the world (except for Antarctica, because who the hell would willingly live there?) The music video features lovable characters and scenes from your favourite retro arcade games. It has Angry Birds, Darth Vader, Hello Kitty, and Keyboard Cat. It has fatalities, giblets, and katamaris. It’s got voxel art, claymation, and chiptunes. All in all, it is made of WIN.

I like Android and given its incredible rise in popularity (see geeky timeline video), the Android collective could be seen as a formidable army. #droidarmy is swelling up on Twitter, it is a couple of like-minded artists who are re-imagining characters from popular cartoons, comics, TV, and film as if they were the Android’s lovable mascot.

Sci-fi Films Re-Imagined as Tintin Covers

You may remember an earlier post on the wonderful illustration by Dan Hipp, or MISTERHIPP as he is called. Hipp has applied his considerable illustration skills to re-imagining popular sci-fi films as covers of the adventures comics that I love to read as a child. Hit the jump to see Tintin, Snowy, and Captain Haddock take on the baddies in Tintin Shot First, Clue to the Grid, and The Hugged Face.

Alien

Howzit, it has been a while. That’s what happens when trying to work and attempts at a social life will do to you. And I know Boss Prawn (Ed — Boss. That does has a nice ring to it.) must have wondered if I had quit. No I didn’t Prawn.

Thought I’d show you a silly indulgence of mine. I’m a big fan of the Alien and Predator franchises. They are maybe the best alien badasses ever brought to the silver screen, and one day while cruising for anything ~~porn~~ pred, I stumbled on Alien LOVES Predator.

It’s a crazy take on the two aliens Abe (Alien) and Preston (Predator), and the hijinks they get up to as two bachelors. Chaos follows them as they try to live together in their New York City apartment. Simple things like riding the subway and eating out become hilarious, but the really funny one is their speed-dating with human women.

The webcomic is created by Bernie Hou, who uses humor based on adsurdism and non sequitors. The artwork for the strip is made using real-life action figures of the characters set against real-world background photos of NY.

The Adventures of Robot Elephant!

A school student is attending a biology lecture that so happens to be terminally boring (been there, snored through that). To pass the time, this student uses the pages of his notebook to draw out the adventures of a very cute, very special elephant. As we’ve seen before gang fights can be epic. And it seems kids can be just as vicious. In this clip, a bully picks a fight with another kid and gets taken to school, WWE-style.

After this bit of street justice, the Herald Sun reports that both kids were suspended from school for four days. Do you think the victim used a little too much force to protect himself, or do you think the tiny tormentor got what he deserved?

Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote are back! The lovable characters have transitioned to the third dimension in the new series of animated shorts being produced by Warner Brothers.
