8-Year-Old Juliet Sings Her First Hardcore Song

Juliet is a long-haired 8-year-old from Brisbane, Australia. She loves her little Dachshund and her tropical fish, and at that age, loves nothing more than to sing about them.

With help from a producer friend, Juliet’s mother recorded her child playing about with her pet and toys, and timed the video to a piece of heay metal music. The results are violent and adorably cute. Check out My First Hardcore Song below.

Juliet’s music video has been viewed over 18 million times on YouTube, her single is available on iTunes, and the tiny rocker even has her own range of t-shirts.

Matthijs Vlot has become the darling of the supercut world. Vlot mashed together a multitude of scenes from other movies to create two of most cheerful mashups that you’ll see on the Internet today (if you haven’t seen them already that is). In Hello, he sources dialogue from a variety of films and syncs it to Lionel Richie’s love song of the same name. And in Ooh Aah, he uses exclamations from other film and cartoon characters to add to Meg Ryan’s fake orgasm scene from “When Harry Met Sally”. See Vlot’s masterful supercuts after the jump.

No Budget Sci-Fi: “Archetype” by Aaron Sims

You may recall Jesús Orellana’s ROSA and wonder who else may have made amazing, no-budget short films. In his labour of love, conceptual artist Aaron Sims explores the trope of ridiculously human robots. His 7-minute sci-fi short, Archetype, mixes CGI and live action to tell the story of RL7, a bi-pedal battle machine that starts acting outside the parameters of its programming.

RL7 is an eight-foot tall combat robot that goes on the run after malfunctioning with vivid memories of once being human. As its creators and the military close in, RL7 battles its way to uncovering the shocking truth behind its mysterious visions and past.

I’m sure that was the creator’s intention, but Archetype certainly leaves me wanting more. Here’s hoping Sims can find the funding he needs to complete the project.

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then cockney-twanged singer Adele should feel exalted. Her single “Rolling in the Deep” has reportedly been covered over 350,000 times on YouTube! Luc Bergeron has created a music video for “Rolling in the Deep” containing clips of other YouTube users singing “Rolling in the Deep”.

Bergeron gathered together 71 of best attempts to create his mashup, “World Covers – Rolling In The Deep”. Check it out below.

The Dot and the Line: A Romance in Lower Mathematics is a cute little animated short film that won an Academy Award in 1966. Based on the book of the same name, this short film, directed by Chuck Jones, tells the story of a line who falls in love with a dot. The love is not reciprocal, for the dot sees the line as too straight, and directs her affections toward the wild and rebellious squiggle. Despite the stern rejection, the line turns to unconventional methods to gain the attention of his love. Does the story have a happy ending? Find out below.

ROSA: A Beautiful Post-Apocalyptic Sci-Fi Short

Created by Spanish comic book artist Jesús Orellana, ROSA is a beautifully animated sci-fi short film that is set against a post-apocalyptic backdrop. A female cyborg named Rosa has been awakened from statis and she starts exploring the bleak and empty world. She is not alone, however, as she is almost immediately set upon by a pair of assassins. Watch her fight for survival in ROSA below.

Wasn’t that amazing? It’s also extraordinary to note that Orellana taught himself how to use the required computers programs and made ROSA all by himself, with next to no budget. The whole process took a year to complete. It has been shown at various film festivals and there is talk that ROSA could be made into a live-action feature film. Entering The Stronghold is also known by its other, more factual name, 7 billion particles per frame.

Created by German visuall effects artist Matthias Müller, it is reported that each frame this audio visual animation actually contains seven billion particles. Be amazed! I know I am, but then again it is late in the night, I’m a litle drunk, and easily impressed. The trippy visuals are complemented by a stirring soundtrack by film music composer, Denny Schneidemesser.

Mountain Biker Meets Angry Buck

Whenever I’ve walked on the slopes of Table Mountain, the nicer mountain bikers are generally the ones going uphill. They’re far too out of breath to be of any danger to me. However, the ones coming down the hill seldom announce their presence. They scream down the rocky roads, leaving a trail of dust and angered walkers in their wake.

You’d think a mountain biker on the flat savanna wouldn’t be of much nuisance to anyone. Unfortunately for mountain biker, Evan van der Spuy of Team Jeep South Africa, that wasn’t the case. During a race at the Albert Falls Dam, van der Spuy rode past a grazing Red Hartebeest who reacted to the cyclist’s presence. And by “react”, I mean “charge the mountain biker and klap him something fierce”.

Inside The Milky Way

It’s a city of stars above our heads. The Milky Way is a galaxy that stretches a staggering 600,000 trillion miles from one end to the other. And in this National Geographic TV special, we are taken on a journey through the tumultuous moments in the history of the Milky Way, from the birth of this beautiful spiral galaxy all the way to its eventual death.

One of the images used in the documentary is the 800-million-pixel panorama of the Milky Way created by the Gigagalaxy Zoom project. As grand as the image is, it’s a side-on view of the galaxy that we see and astronomers use all manner of high-tech computer tools to work out what it would like if it were viewed from a bird’s-eye view. Dexter Meets Saul Bass

Illustrator Ty Mattson channels Saul Bass in his alternate openining credits to the smashing Showtime series, Dexter. Mattson had initially created a set of minimalist posters, one for each season of the show, highlighting the pivotal moments from each episode. Showtime was thoroughly impressed with his works and subsequently interviewed Mattson for a bonus feature in the season 5 DVD boxset.

Mattson then turned his focus to making the title sequence. With the help of friends from Fashion Buddha, he used his existing poster artwork to create the opening credits to Dexter as if the show was aired in the 1960s.

Shot from the first person perspective (the cool kids call it FPS), Insane Office Escape video tells story of a gentleman who turns from humdrum office worker to lethal combatant. The mystery man retrieves a special package from a safe and needs to escape an office full of co-workers who want to do him serious harm. It’s judo chops, flying kicks, and attacks with “slippery floor” signs in this adrenaline-pumping escape sequence. Check it out below.
