We Review: New Style Boutique 3: Styling Star

New Style Boutique 3 (known as Style Savvy in the US) is a game that sees you in the role of a fashion boutique owner trying to enfashion a lackluster town. It’s the fourth game in the New Style Boutique series (hence the 3, of course, because video game numbering sequence make perfect sense, don’t they, Street Fighter 2?). All of the games in the series had been very well received, so it was with some measure of curiosity that I approached this game to figure out what the attraction was.

We Review: Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns

Story of Seasons is what resulted after a spat between two warring video game publishers fought over popular IP Harvest Moon. I covered the history of this in my Harvest Moon review, so now I have a chance to see how the other half lives in Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns. Is a farming game just a farming game? Or is it a version of Animal Crossing with humans in it? Grab the scythe on the way out to reap what I’ve sown in this review.

We Review: Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy

I had to go back and check, but it turns out that Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy is the first Layton game we’ve ever reviewed, despite there being a veritable slew of Layton games in existence. Okay, not a slew…more like…six, or seven if you include this one. Nine if you include spin-offs. And one movie. I’ve played Layton games before, but this one takes things in a slightly different direction, so let’s grab our magnifying glasses and get sleuthing for this review!

We Review: Yo-Kai Watch 2: Psychic Spectres

Earlier this year, Level 5 released Yo-Kai Watch 2 for the Nintendo 3DS, and it came in two flavours: Bony Spirits and Fleshy Souls. Now there’s a third flavour that combines the best of both prior versions, and adds a bunch more stuff to the game to boot: Yo-Kai Watch 2: Psychic Spectres. But how does it compare? Is my 3DS possessed? Must be the work of a Yo-Kai…let’s investigate!

We Review: Miitopia

Miitopia is Nintendo’s vision of a fantasy RPG in the vein of Tomodachi Life. It’s about as weird as it sounds, minus the bizarre vocal synth talking. Look, it’s best you just come with me, because this review is going to be an adventure from start to finish. Oh, and be a dear and grab that sword on the way out?

We Review: Hey! Pikmin

Captain Olimar is at it again, gathering Pikmin and ordering them about like some sort of space general in the latest game in the Pikmin series, Hey! Pikmin. And the Pikmin, being Pikmin, and jumping at his every whistle and command. To top it all off, they’re now flitting between the two screens of your 3DS, so that’s…double the trouble? Quadruple the trouble? I can’t keep proper count anymore, but let’s just dive into this review and hope we don’t lose any more of the Pikmin as we meander our way down to the inevitable score at the bottom of the page.

We Review: Ever Oasis

Ever Oasis is a new game by Grezzo for the Nintendo 3DS, and introduces us to a new world with new characters. The little handheld seems to attract more new IP than its bigger cousins, but new IP always means new risks. So, does Ever Oasis sip the cool waters of the desert? Or does it stumble down a dune to fall into a mirage? Grab your camel and join me for this review, and we’ll find the answer together.

We Review: Yo-Kai Watch 2

Last year, we reviewed Yo-Kai Watch, a game that was a take on the Pokémon “Collect them all” style of gaming. I thoroughly enjoyed it at the time, and so it was with great joy I got a chance to review Yo-Kai Watch 2. Let’s find out what’s different about this game, shall we?

We Review: Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King

The original Dragon Quest VIII released in the EU regions on the Sony PlayStation 2 back in 2006 (simply titled Dragon Quest: Journey of the Cursed King because it was the first Dragon Quest title to release in EU regions), and was a highly-acclaimed title back then. I personally loved it and found it to be one of my favourite Dragon Quest games, despite a weaker story than VII (which we reviewed here). Square Enix has remastered Dragon Quest VIII game for the Nintendo 3DS, so it was with great glee I tackled this title to find out what had changed between the original and this version.

We Review: Disney Magical World 2

It’s still 2016, so that means we’re going to review either a remaster or a sequel again. Seriously, I can count on one hand the number of reviews we’ve done for totally new IP, but a new release is a new release, so we’re going to go back…to the future! Magic Kingdom for Disney Magical World 2! Not only do we get to play with Mickey and Donald and company like we did in 2014’s Disney Magical World (which we reviewed here), we also get a to enjoy a whole new bunch of Disney characters from Anna and Elsa to Lilo and Stitch to Snow White, as well as enjoy the company of some old ones from the last game. Magic wands at the ready?
