Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas is a Zelda-like that has been prominent on mobile devices, but has made the jump from there to the PlayStation Vita (yes! It’s still alive and they still make games for it!) Is it a worthy game in the style of the legendary warrior Link? Or is it doomed to die, tangled in its own morass of bombs and swords?

Level 22 from Moving Player Games is a stealth game with a twist. No saving the world here. No Earth-shattering meteors. Not even a mighty megaweapon to disable. Just Gary. And he’s late to work. Hide under the cardboard box with us as we review this unusual game of trying to get to the desk before anyone notices we’re gone.
Who among you are old enough to remember the arcade game Robotron 2084? Or Smash TV? Or any one of those old top down, dual-stick shooter games that spawned an entire genre. If you do, you’re going to have a massive dose of nostalgia in the form of Ultratron, from the same guys who brought you that other nostalgia-fest, Titan Attacks. Let’s get our guns loaded and our transistors blazing. Or was it the other way around?
BreakQuest: Extra Evolution, a Breakout clone, is a PlayStation Minis game from Beatshapers (the same wonderful people who brought us WizOrb, reviewed here). It’s the successor to the original 2004 Break Quest game from Nurium Games (also ported to PSP by Beatshapers). I took up my handy bat and ball to see what it was all about.
Back in ’06, Resistance: Fall of Man was one of the very first games to be released for the debut of the PlayStation 3. The series went on to see a trilogy and even spawned a spin-off on the PlayStation Portable. And now, Resistance: Burning Skies has the honour of being the first twin-stick shooter on a handheld console. It’s an unenviable task of going first, especially considering veteran Resistance developer Insomniac Games wasn’t leading the charge. Instead, the duties went to Nihilistic Software, a developer notable for their middling effort on PlayStation Move Heroes.
So, does Resistance: Burning Skies for PlayStation Vita not only distil all the things we’ve come to know and like from the Resistance universe but also make good use of the handheld’s distinct features? I head to the front lines to find out.
Hot on the heels of StarDrone for the PS3, indie developers Alexey Menshikov of Beatshapers and Andriy Sharanevych from Orb Games bring their colourful top-down physics puzzler to the PS Vita. Does StarDrone Extreme play to the strengths of the handheld console? Or is it just another watered down version? Let’s find out.
Escape Plan, one of the PS Vita’s download-only launch titles, is a puzzle platform game that sees you guiding two…things…to safety across a perilous series of levels. We take this game for a gruesomely messy run. Will you make it out of this review alive? Let’s find out.
