It Will Be Fun, They Said

What looks like a fun music video takes an unexpected turn when some school goers decide to cut class and spend the glorious day frolicking on the beach. A boy and girl hope to turn their canoodling to coitus in the dunes, but are interrupted in a most disturbing way. See what happens below, but be warned the content is rather graphic.

This PSA was supposedly created for the Learn for Life Foundation of Western Australia.

Speaking of dumb ways to die, have a look at another of Australia’s unforgettable PSAs.

Dumb Ways to Die

Life is full of death traps and the Metro Trains Melbourne in Australia is trying to warn passengers not to do dumb things.

Reminiscent of the Happy Tree Friends, this cute and somewhat morbid public safety video shows a collection of animated creatures as they die in a number of horrible ways. Using your private parts as piranha bait, poking a grizzly bear, and taking your helmet off in outer space are just a few of the Dumb Ways to Die. Have a look at the rest below.

Dumb Ways To Die was animated by Julian Frost and performed by a Melbourne band, Tangerine Kitty. To download the catchy jingle, its instrumental version, or the ringtone, visit Soundcloud. All the GIFs can be found on Tumblr.

A Trio of Star Wars PSAs

In the late 70s, when C-3PO and R2-D2 were taking a break from helping the Rebel Alliance fight off the Galactic Empire, they were assisting in bringing awareness to some of the issues that normal Earthlings face.

In this PSA from a galaxy far far away, R2 is sneakingly puffing away on a cigarette in the corner of the control room, when he is caught by 3PO. 3P0 scolds R2 saying smoking is very bad for the lungs and even though they don’t have them, they should set a good example for the humans.

A Love Story in Milk

In a processing plant, a male carton of milk catches the eye (label?) of the opposite sex. Their love blossoms on the shelf of a supermarket and continues to marriage at home, and is then ruined by a callous act.

This anthropomorphic love story/recycling PSA was made by British agency Catsnake for Friends of the Earth, a network of environmental organizations.

Game On: Cute 8-Bit Safe Sex Ad

In an effort to promote safe sex amongst horny teenagers, the “Leicestershire Teenage Pregnancy Partnership” in the United Kingdom has commissioned a cute 8-bit public service advertisement.

In the style of Super Mario Bros and Mega Man, our hero wants to get his “game on” but his princess will not let him into her castle without the prerequisite special item. This video follows his attempts to procure said item. See how it turns out below.

So there you have it. Have fun, play safe, and stay away from the mushrooms.

AdFreak’s Creepiest Commercials of 2009

…and the majority of them are PSAs. Because the easiest way to get through to people is to scare them into submission.

Adfreak reviews the year in advertising and compiles a list of the 30 most bizarre and creepy ads they have come across. The majority of the ads don’t push any products, but attempt to terrify one into thinking/caring about topics that they may not necessarily be bothered about. There are a couple of these rather freakish ads after the jump.

The Most Terrifying Safety Video Ever

I’ve seen workplace safety in a completely new, vomit-inducing light thanks to this PSA video. This is not a parody, it’s an actual b-grade horror movie workplace safety video filled with pained screams, dismemberment, and bloody death that results from the actions of careless or inattentive employees. Enjoy.
