Sharlto Copley is a Robot Reject in Neill Blomkamp’s “Chappie”

He was your boet in a film shot entirely as an FPS game, and now Sharlto Copley is teaming up with Neill Blomkamp for yet another sci-fi adventure. In Chappie, Copley voices a robot who has been gifted the ability to think and feel for himself. The coming-of-age story has our protagonist going from watching cartoons and looking cool to experiencing first-hand how the world rejects things that it doesn’t understand. Check out the trailer below.

Chappie was shot in Johannesburg and you would have undoubtedly recognized oddballs Ninja and Yo-Landi Vi$$er playing a parental role. Dev Patel is the young creator and mullet-ed Hugh Jackman finds A.I. too unpredictable. Chappie is set for release in March 2015.

Real Steel

Looks like 2011 is going to be the year of the mechs, with the third installment of Transformers and now Hugh Jackman’s Real Steel.

Jackman plays Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next.

Adapted from a short story “Steel” by Richard Matheson, the author who gave us “I Am Legend” and “What Dreams May Come”. Directed by Shawn Levy who gave us “Date Night” and the “Night at the Museum” films. Not exactly brilliant but we can hope he delivers here. It is set for release on the 7 October 2011.

Here’s the trailer, let us know what you think.

Do The Funky Boogie

Oh no. Being of simple mind when I get a song into my head, it does tend to roll around in there for quite some time. The song in question is by John Ozila who is getting all afro-disco in the house. Have a listen to Funky Boogie below.

Sing it with me: Ah ouh ouh ah ouh ouh aaaaaaaaah!

Funky Boogie was recently used in a Lipton Ice Tea commercial where the versatile actor Hugh Jackman danced up a storm in Tokyo Dance Hotel. It reminded me of Christopher Walken and that made me smile. Check it out after the jump.
