We Review: Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes

Disney Infinity, released last year, was Disney’s entry to the toys-that-come-to-life genre, alongside the only other entry: Skylanders. While Skylanders had to build their fan base almost from the ground up, Disney Infinity had the advantage of having a built-in fan base and a veritable slew of characters to draw upon. This year, Disney lets its Marvel characters take the helm with the new Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes (aka Disney Infinity 2.0). I strap on my shield, get into my power armour, grab my hammer, sling my webs, and plug in my Awesome Mix vol. 1 to see what the new game is all about.

We Review: Disney Magical World (3DS)

Disney Magical World is a Life Sim game that puts you into some famous Disney worlds to roam or play at will. Think of it as Animal Crossing meets Disney. It’s not the kind of game that’s usually on anyone’s radar: but I’m going to tell you why it should be.

Film Review: Disney Planes 2: Fire and Rescue

Disney Planes was a spin-off film of Disney’s Cars, telling the story of Dusty Crophopper, a crop dusting airplane who aspires to the big world of airplane racing. The film wasn’t a huge success with critics (note: not the primary audience), but I understand that kids (note: the primary audience) enjoyed it. Now we have the sequel to the film, subtitled Fire and Rescue, which continues Dusty’s tale. Let’s go for a spin while I tell you about it.

Film Review: Guardians of the Galaxy

Hands up those of you who had never heard of the Guardians of the Galaxy before this year. That’s a lot of hands, but not as many as I’d expected. Those who follow Marvel’s comic universe—and the Avengers in particular—will be more than a little aware of the Guardians, but those who know Marvel for simply Spider-Man or The Avengers have something wonderful in store. Come, let me tell you about it.

Allons-y! Mickey Mouse Returns to his Roots in “Croissant de Triomphe”

Mickey Mouse started out in cartoon shorts back in 1928 with Disney’s Steamboat Willie. Hundreds of appearances later and we see the affable mouse return to his roots in a brand new series. During the course of the year Disney is going to release 19 comedic animated shorts simply entitled “Mickey Mouse” and the first in the series is Croissant de Triomphe.

Combining the hand-drawn 2D animation style reminiscent of Disney in the early 30s with fancy CGI elements from present day, Croissant de Triomphe shows Mickey battling his way through traffic jams and popular Parisian landmarks on a time-sensitive mission to deliver croissants to Minnie’s café. Watch Croissant de Triomphe below.

Partysaurus Rex!

Try as he might, the impossibly small arms of Tyrannosaurus Rex mean that it can’t take its own profile picture, zip up a sleeping bag, or even hold hands with a She-Rex.

It’s an equally trying time for Toy Story’s plastic dinosaur Rex who wants to shed his party pooper image. In Disney Pixar’s latest animated short, Rex finds himself in a position where he can use his arms to get a (bath time) party started. It’s disco lights and dance tunes, an epic bubble bash like no other, and it’s all thanks to the king of the hot tub Partysaurus Rex.

We Review: Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance

The Kingdom Hearts series is an ongoing collaboration between Disney and Square Enix, and features characters from both the Disney and Square franchises. The latest in a series with increasingly bizarre names is subtitled Dream Drop Distance. I take up my trusty Keyblade to batter some enemies around and see what this game is all about.

Demented Disney Characters

While we you may have seen them in all sorts of tight underwear or given the macabre makeover, you’d never think of your beloved Disney characters as pimps, hookers, and flashers. CG Hub user Darko Kreculj (TestosteronMan) does just that, re-imagining the ever so cute creatures in their sinister forms.
